NIDEK Nano Portable Oxygen Concentrator

What is this device?

If your doctor has recommended supplemental oxygen, this device provides it without a heavy cylinder. It is a small unit that draws in the air around you, extracts the oxygen from it, and delivers it through a light tube placed at your nose.

How does it work?

The Nano does not release oxygen continuously. Instead, it senses the moment you begin to inhale and gives you a small burst of oxygen at exactly that moment. Nothing is wasted, and the battery lasts longer.

Why might it suit you?

  • Lightweight: It weighs only 2.1 kg and comes with a carrying bag, so you can carry it as you would a small shoulder bag.
  • Goes where you go: It runs on a rechargeable battery, so you are not tied to a wall outlet at home, on outings, or while traveling.
  • Works on mains power too: At home, plug it in and save the battery for when you are out.
  • Quiet: Its noise level is low (about 49 dB), so it will not disturb you or the people around you.
  • Easy to use: A color touchscreen shows your chosen setting and the device status clearly.

How much oxygen does it deliver?

The device has five settings, and your doctor will choose the one that suits your condition. The higher the setting, the more oxygen is delivered per breath, and the shorter the battery life:

Setting Oxygen Output (ml/min) Approx. Battery Life
1 210 3.5 hours
2 420 3.25 hours
3 630 2.5 hours
4 840 2.15 hours
5 1000 1.5 hours

The battery fully recharges in no more than 4 hours. Oxygen purity is between 87% and 96% on all settings.

Will it warn you if something is wrong?

Yes. The device sounds an alarm in these cases:

  • Oxygen concentration drops below the safe level (82%).
  • The battery is low or about to run out.
  • The oxygen tubing is blocked.
  • A device malfunction occurs.
  • It does not detect your breathing. In this case it begins delivering automatic pulses until it senses your breathing again.

If the low-concentration alarm keeps recurring, contact the supplier or your doctor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use it without consulting my doctor?
This is not recommended. Your doctor decides whether you need oxygen, which setting to use, and for how many hours a day. Please have your doctor’s recommendation before purchasing.

How is it different from large home oxygen concentrators?
The Nano is portable, battery-powered, and delivers oxygen in pulses. NIDEK Nuvo models are home units that run on mains power and deliver a continuous flow. Your doctor can advise which type suits your condition.

Can I use it while it is charging?
Yes. You can run it while the battery is connected to power.

Is it suitable for travel?
It is designed for mobility and operates at altitudes up to 3,000 meters above sea level. If you plan to fly, check your airline’s policy on carrying oxygen devices before you travel.
